Saturday 3rd May 2008
Shrewsbury Agility Show
This was a really nice show. Not squashed together but well spread out and a relaxed atmosphere.
So many well done's - Charlie and Megan 2nd Junior Over 12 Jumping, 3rd G2 Agility x 2, Clear Rounds in Tuffstuff Agility (1-3) and 1-3 Jumping. Stuart and Connor 4th G2 Jumping x 2, 13th G1-3 Agility, 13th in the G1&2 Jumping, Clear Rounds in 1-2 Agility and G2 Agility. Debbie and Sandy Clear Rounds in G2 Agility and G2 Jumping. Jackie and Rum 8th G3 Jumping, 9th G3 Agility, 13th G3 Jumping and CR in something else - can't remember what!! Many congratulations to all - loverrrly trophies Charlie - we are all so envious!

Monday 5th May 2008
Severnside - North Somerset Show
Really nice weather apart from a brief shower towards the end of the day. This brought masses of people (and dogs) in resulting in a feeling of over-crowding. Not good conditions for those of us with more nervous dogs! The gun-fire from the clay pigeon shooting didn't make life easier either!
That being said, the dogs still worked well. Charlie and Megan had a 3rd in G2 Agility and 20th in the G1-5 collie jumping and Jackie and Rum got 2nd in G3 Jumping and 11th G1-5 collie jumping, Debbie and Sandy had a clear round in the pairs but were unfortunately let down by their partners, who got eliminated! Whoops! Sorry Debbie...

Monday 5th May 2008
Connor Wee Beastie
Stuart and Connor are having a fantastic season, having now accrued enough points for Connor to get his Agility Warrant Silver. Did I also see that he is heading the leaderboard in G2 in the Rescue League??
Many congratulations from us all!

Saturday 10th May 2008
Silver and Gold Good Citizens
What a gorgeous day to do these tests and our judge, Heidi Vague, was lovely too!
Excellent results achieved and many congratulations to those dogs and their owners who gained the Silver and Gold Awards!
Silver:
Julia and Murphy
Becky and Ky
Selina and Vernon
Donna and Acer
Eleanor and Poppy
Gold:
Dave and Finn
Lesley and Smudge
Jackie and Rum (finally!).
We hope to do the next tests - including Bronze next time - in July, so watch this space...

Sunday 18th May 2008
Carn Brea Agility Show
Huge congratulations must go to Louise and Saffi for winning the G1-2 Agility this weekend! Another one moving up a grade. Congratulations also to Stuart and Connor for their 3rd in G3 agility and Charlie and Megan for 3rd in G1-2 Jumping.

Sunday 25th May 2008
Cornwall Agility Club Pencarrow
What started off as a bit of a drizzly day turned into a pleasant, warm afternoon with a very relaxed atmosphere. It was a nice show with an old-fashioned feeling.
Debbie and Sandy had 5th in G1-3 Jumping and a Clear Round in the G1-3 Helter Skelter, Stuart and Connor came 4th in the Steeplechase and 6th in the Helter Skelter. Jackie and Rum were 2nd in both the Jumping and the Helter Skelter.
Well done to all.

Sunday 1st June 2008
Wye Valley Agility Show
This was a nice location - just a hop across the footbridge and you are in Monmouth town centre, and very nice it is too! Really good weather on Saturday and we were able to sit out under the sun awning for the first time!

The results were not that impressive overall but Stuart and Connor were dependable as ever and won very decent places in G3 and even had a place in the G1-7 as well. They were also the only partnership to get a clear round in the team event! In all their results were:
Saturday 11th G3 Agility, CR G3 Jumping
Sunday 14th G3 Agility, 16th G1-7 Jumping, CR G3 Jumping. Well done also to Debbie and Sandy who had clear rounds in G3 Jumping on Saturday and Sunday and G1-7 Jumping on Sunday. Unfortunately, Rum and Toby were not performing at their best with Rum (aka: Contacts - What contacts?) just having a clear in the pairs and Toby having a bit of an issue with weave poles.

Monday 9th June 2008
Roseland Agility Show
What a cracking weekend! It made a lovely change to sit around the rings and get a suntan at the same time!
This was Charlie and Megan's first show at Grade 3 and she told me the course wasn't that easy. Although I went to great pains to explain that it would not be good for her to win out of Grade 3 before I did anyway, she still went and won the Agility putting her firmly into Grade 4! Many, many congratulations to a super handler and her gorgeous dog.
Congratulations also to Stuart and Connor who got 6th in the Agility and 4th in the Jumping in G3, Louise and Saffi who achieved an excellent 4th in G2 Jumping and Debbie and Sandy for a good clear round in G3 Jumping.

Friday 13th June 2008
RVA Show - Peterborough
Stuart and Connor qualified for the Burgess Supadog Rescue Dog National Finals which were held at the East of England Show on Friday. This was a brilliant achievement and it was lovely to see the huge variety of rescues competing in the finals. They did really well with Connor having a clear round and achieving 5th place in the jumping in the morning, but unfortunately incurred five faults putting them into 9th in the Agility finals in the afternoon. Connor also got a clear round in the G3/4 Agility.
Many congratulations from all of us!

Jackie and Terry went along to support them and Rum had a clear round in the G3/4 jumping (despite missing walking the course, doh!) and a clear round in the G1-7 Helter Skelter.

For those of you not familiar with shows 'up country' the classes can be rather larger than we are used to in Cornwall and Devon and it is not that easy to get into the top ten percent and hence receive a placing. The competition is fierce and there were over 250 dogs in many of the classes we competed in this weekend at Peterborough and Golden Valley!

Friday 13th June 2008
Golden Valley Agility Show
Charlie, Kim, Stuart and Jackie competed at Golden Valley over the weekend - a gorgeous sunny one at that!

Many congratulations to Charlie and Megan who got 6th place in both the Junior Under 18 Jumping and Agility and a clear round in the Junior Jumping as well as a fantastic 5th place together with Stuart and Connor in the G1-3 pairs! Connor also won 15th in the G1-3 Agility, 23rd in the G3 Agility and had clear rounds in G3 Jumping on both days and G1-3 Circular Jumping. Jackie and Rum had a 19th in the G3 Jumping.

We also competed in the Team Dash (which was won by Mid-Cornwall! Many congratulations to them) and put in a decent performance. This time we were not eliminated - not even faulted on the baton change! - and had two clear rounds and a couple of faults between us all. Well done everyone! Getting better all the time!

Friday 13th June 2008
Golden Valley Championship Frogs
And the winner is ............ Stuart, who is considering giving up agility to take on a full-time position as Championship frog racing jockey! Stuart, the Champion, beat EVERY other frog jockey in the Midlands and West of England to become the undisputed, absolute, overall winner of the entire evening's frog racing!

Oggy, oggy, oggy, oi, oi, oi!

Sunday 22nd June 2008
YKC Agility Dog of the Year
Is there no stopping this girl?? First she wins into Grade 3, then Grade 4 and today she only goes and comes second in the Young Kennel Club Agility Dog of the Year Qualifier at Chippenham Show! Only the first two places go to Crufts so it was a very exciting prize-giving and none of us even went to peek at the results beforehand.

Well done, Charlie and Megan, on making a very difficult course look like a piece of cake. Crufts here we come .............

Saturday 28th June 2008
Lansdown Agility Show
Upon arrival it looked as though we were in for a wet and windy weekend, but luckily it cleared and we had reasonable weather on Saturday.
There were a lot of dogs entered here (about 280 in Grade 3 alone!)so some of the placings may not seem that great, but you have to bear in mind that they are still in the top 10% of the class.
Congratulations to the following:
Debbie and Sandy 25th in G3 Jumping and CR in G3 Agility on the Saturday and 25th in G3 Agility on the Sunday; Stuart and Connor 23rd in G3 Agility on Saturday and CR in G3 Jumping and on Sunday as well; Jackie and Rum 14th G3 Agility on Saturday and CR in G3 Jumping; Louise and Safi CR in G2 Jumping; Eloise CR in G2 Jumping and Selina and Vernon CR in Anysize Jumping.
