All dogs are welcome at Capable Canines, whether small, large, mongrel or
pedigree, as are all sorts of owners! Capable Canines offers the pet dog owner
a choice of puppy socialisation and basic obedience classes, obedience courses
and agility training. If you prefer we can arrange one-to-one training at your
own home to cater for your dog’s individual needs.
We work towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme and further details of
the tests can be found on the
GCDS page.
Regular group walks and a variety of other activities, such as talks, courses
or extra training sessions for other disciplines, as well as the chaotic
Christmas party are not to be missed! Please check the
News / Events section regularly for information.
We aim to make our training fun and it is all based on praise and reward.
Handlers should come equipped with a supply of very tasty treats and / or a
toy. Whatever you use it must be really, really interesting to your dog. Dry
biscuits are not usually a strong enough lure to coax your dog away from his
new-found friends! Dogs should wear flat collars and the lead should be
reasonably long and preferably not chain (which can be very hard on your
hands!). Harnesses are not suitable for obedience or agility training and we do
not approve of the use of check chains.
Capable Canines Dog Training Services is recommended by several veterinary
practices and Caradon District Council.
PLEASE NOTE
All puppies in training with us must be vaccinated and
certificates shown upon registration.
Bitches in season will not be able to attend training classes or tests.
If your bitch comes into season during a course, she will need to be kept
away for at least three weeks and longer if necessary. If you let us know
if your bitch comes into season, we will offer you credits for any classes you
miss that you have already paid for.
